Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive at the time of booking confirmation or upon vehicle collection. This document outlines essential terms, conditions, insurance coverage, charges, and your responsibilities associated with the rental. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Renting a vehicle requires:
- To rent a vehicle from Car Hire in Atherton, you must be at least 21 years old, although age restrictions may differ based on the vehicle type, and extra charges may apply for drivers under 25. A valid driving license appropriate for the vehicle category is required, along with identification and proof of your current address. Payment information and a security deposit must be provided, alongside any other specific requirements outlined in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payment Process
- Reservations can be made via our website, over the phone, or in person at our Atherton office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. The remainder of the payment and a security deposit are generally required at the time of vehicle pickup. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT when applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, processed securely through trusted payment providers.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- Upon collecting your vehicle, please conduct a thorough inspection and report any pre-existing damages without delay. A vehicle condition report will be prepared and signed at this time. It is expected that the vehicle is returned in the same condition as it was received, accounting for normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated, and charges will be applied as necessary. Ensure the vehicle is returned with the same fuel level as at pickup; refueling fees will be charged if the fuel level is lower. Late returns can result in additional fees, so please notify us as soon as possible if you anticipate a delay. You will be responsible for any parking tickets, traffic violations, or other charges incurred during your rental, along with an administration fee.
Insurance and Responsibility
- All rentals include basic third-party insurance. You can find comprehensive coverage details and excess amounts in your Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be offered to minimize your financial liability. It is advisable to review these options closely. You remain accountable for any damage or loss up to the excess amount, unless further coverage is secured. Any damage resulting from negligence or misuse falls under your responsibility, regardless of existing insurance.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice period provided. For specific information, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or no-shows may incur additional charges.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited Vehicle Uses
- Use of the vehicle for illegal activities is strictly prohibited. This includes participation in racing, rallying, off-roading, or any dangerous driving practices. Transporting hazardous materials, sub-letting, or permitting unauthorized drivers is not allowed. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is forbidden. Additionally, the vehicle should not be used for purposes it is not intended for, and passenger or weight limits must not be exceeded. Travel outside of the agreed geographical boundaries requires prior authorization.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental termination and extra fees.
8. Liability Limitations
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Car Hire Atherton is not responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims will not exceed the rental amount paid in the last 12 months. This limitation does not apply to cases of death or personal injury due to negligence or fraud.
9. Applicable Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes will be handled exclusively by the courts in this jurisdiction.
Terms Modification Policy
We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect immediately upon being posted on our website. Continued use of our services indicates acceptance of the revised Terms.
